1st Lt. Danley Assumes Command
1st Lt. Ed Danley has assumed the command of SPCS. After only a brief eight
months in command our previous squadron commander, Captain Mike Pettinger
found a new position at St. Louis University as a flight instructor, naturally
requiring that he relocate there. We wish Capt. Pettinger all the best.
1st Lt. Danley has completed Level 1 and has earned his 2-year Red Service
Ribbon. He holds a Technician Rating in the IT Specialty Track. He currently
serves on the ILWG Operations staff managing the myriad of wing email lists, as
well as working on other projects. In 2010, Lt. Danley earned the AEPSM Charles
E. "Chuck" Yeager Aerospace Education Achievement Award.
Also in 2010, Lt. Danley attended NESA where he qualified as a Mission Scanner
and Airborne Photographer and was selected as Distinguished Graduate of his
class. He is also a qualified Mission Radio Operator, Mission Staff Assistant,
UDF Team Member and is training for the Mission Observer rating.
Lt. Danley is a CAP VFR Pilot and is building the requisite cross-country time to become a Mission Transport Pilot.
An official change-of-command ceremony will likely take place at the squadron's
annual awards night to be held on January 31, 2012.
